Sasha

SashaHere is a recent photo of Sasha, who will be 13 years young in December. We adopted her from you in November, 2004. Everyone in our extended family loves Sasha. Sasha loves taking five mile hikes, exploring Pisgah State Park and swimming in local streams and ponds. She especially loves getting muddy. At her recent medical checkup, the vet declared that her heart and lungs are ‘amazingly strong’. We hope that she runs in the woods with us for many more years to come.

General

I adopted General in February of this year.  He came down from Springfield.  Here he is hanging out with his buddy Penny.

Kagan, Emma, Abbie, Griffin & Jazz

happy familyI have adopted 4 pets from you – all with happily ever after stories.

I had one dog – Kagan, a black lab. Because of my travel schedule for work, I wanted him to have a companion while I was away (I hire house sitters to keep my dogs company).  Kagan picked Emma at the meet and greet, a German shepherd mix, and they became best buddies.   Emma had a piddle problem, but with lots of patience, dog treats and love, she hardly ever piddles any more.

With what seemed like an increasing mouse population in my house, I thought it would be a good idea to get a cat.  I would not have considered myself a cat person (more a dog person) but I found Abbie, a calico, who is not only an excellent mouser, she showed me I love cats, too!  Emma wanted to be friends with Abbie right away, but Abbie didn’t think so.  She swiped Emma’s nose the first day and drew blood.  With time, though, they became best of friends.  Abbie now follows Emma (and the rest of us) around the yard and rubs up against Emma.

Five years go by – Kagan and Emma are both 10.5 years old and it’s 2012. (Emma was supposed to be younger than Kagan so I had a transition dog, but that’s not who Kagan picked).  I decided I needed a young dog – and that I should get one right away while my older dogs were still very active.  (We walk 3-5 miles almost every day and play lots of ball).  WCHS had puppies!  And best of all they were a black lab/golden retriever mix (my first dog was a golden).  Voila!  Jazz came into our household.  He and Kagan are always snuggling, but they all play well together.  They especially love to play with tennis balls.

My family and friends thought I was nuts to get a third dog and have 4 critters.  So just to convince them that they were correct, I got a second cat – a kitten I named Griffin.  Jazz absolutely adores Griffin.  Griffin loves everyone.

So now my house is overflowing with love and there is hardly any room for me on my couch!

Happily ever after,
Peggy

p.s. But, really, I am not getting any more critters.  Honest.  I mean it. Today.

Eva and Gracie

We adopted Gracie in 2010 from your shelter. She was about 10-12 weeks old at the time. She is the most amazing cat! So amazing…we decided to adopt another kitten about 6 months ago (Eva, pictured in the first photo). You guys were so great at the shelter and we could not be happier with her. She loves cuddling, loves the water, and makes us laugh on a day to day basis.

Shawn

Tonka

When we got Tonka from you guys over 4 yrs ago we would of never guessed he would turn out to be such a great addition to our family. He loves people and loves dogs too, especially his brother Chico and our neighbors dog (his girl friend) June. From what I was told Tonka had a rough beginning, You would never know that now. He continues to amaze me every day of how quickly he learns and proves that his breed of dog is nothing that the media makes them out to be. They are a caring, affectionate, loyal breed that with the right “love” and training can be a excellent addition to the family.

Toby and Duffy

toby  duffyWe adopted Toby (was Shiloh) and MacDuffy two years ago. I went because of the free cat if over 3 years and came home with a cat and a beagle. He gets along great with our other dog.

Nikki

Ramona (and Mosley)

photoHi everyone at WCHS, I just wanted to let you know that June (now Ramona) has settled in beautifully!  She and my other cat Moseley fell in love immediately, and are now the best of friends. She’s made herself very comfortable here, and I’m so thrilled and lucky to have her as part of my family. Thank you all so much, she and I will be enjoying each others company for many many years to come! Best to all of you and the animals at WCHS, thanks for all you do!  Sincerely, Elizabeth and “June”

Sienna

sienna 1sienna 2Sienna came to us as an adoption at the shelter. She was 18 at the time and I seaw her in ICU. It seemed like no one would adopt a 18 year old cat……… Well I did and am glad I did it. She is now 21 and still going strong. She loves to watch TV on the couch next to me. When I wake up in the morning she is right there on my right side to greet me. She sure rules the house to when It comes to chow time.
