"We are so happy that Lilly became a member of our family this year. She is such a happy and good natured dog. She likes to sit and watch the birds out the front window and the chipmunks and red squirrel play in the back field. She knows where the rabbit and the chipmunks live and she loves to chase the squirrels. She is such a cuddlebug. Lilly thinks every day should start and end with a belly rub...and we agree! We can't say enough about how wonderful the Windham County Humane Society was. Lilly had a medical issue when she arrived at the shelter, and had to have a painful bladder stone removed. WCHS took care of Lilly, providing her with the surgery she needed. We are so thankful that they were able to take care of her so well. Lilly is on a special diet now to help prevent future bladder stones but she doesn't mind. She is so lovable and loving, we are truly blessed to have her as part of our family."

Abby

Kelsey (Abby)

Adopted- December 2011

"I was drawn to Abby the first time I saw her hiding in her little vodka box. She had beautiful coloring and a sweet kitten-ish face, though she was over 8 years old. She didn't come out to talk to volunteers and visitors, but when I took her out of her cage, she purred and sat contentedly on my lap. She's a bit timid, but very affectionate. Now that she's been home with me for about a month, she's settled into a very predicatble routine; sleeping on the back cushion of my reading chair all day. I love her quiet presence in the house, and she loves being brushed every evening. We're well suited to each other!"

"Our new kitties are just wonderful!  They race around the house and find new places to explore every day. They just have so much fun together and are winning the heart of our older kitty--he is tolerating them and is actually mildly amused by them, which is great! Thanks so much, and Merry Christmas to you all.

Take care, Mark and  Bonnie Kimball"

Oscar & Scarlet

Pets Collage II

Adopted- October 2011

"We are very happy with Arron now known as O. Cat,  Oscar,  Wild Oscar (as opposed to Oscar Wilde) the parkour kitty. He is incredibly agile, can run up walls and leap great distances. He will climb into the fridge, the sink and the trash if you let him. He is a totally cool cat. He still loves the outside as you can see but is happy coming home to us. He also takes walks with us and Scarlet. Scarlet (Previously Velvet) also goes by Scarlatti, Scarlet O'Hairy, Girlie Girl, and Stubby .(You may not have noticed since she was at the shelter for so short a time that her legs are really, really short. They are about as long as Oscar's so they are quite a pair when we walk together. She's a bit of a couch potato especially in the AM. When I take her out before school she dawdles at times but in the afternoon in the fields she loves to run and snuff in the grass and snow. The two get along well; the picture of them sharing the roasting pan after Thanksgiving didn't really come out. As you can see they both match our floor ..... Happy New year from us all.......

Jango

Jango
Adopted- November 2010

"In November of 2010, we adopted a 6 month old Catahoula Leopard dog from Kentucky. Jango (Fett), formerly known as Hann. At the time, I thought he was the ugliest little thing I had ever seen, and to top it off, he was much younger than I wanted to adopt for my first time. However, his demeanor and mellow personality convinced me otherwise. He is very well behaved and well trained. Adopting him was the best decision I have ever made. When he's not lounging around in his crate, on the bedroom carpet, in his own chair in the sun, or following me around, we enjoy many days outside with or without doggie friends. At least once a week, we venture to Northampton, Massachusetts to their 'dog park' and meet many new friends. Other times, we hang out with his two best dog friends, hiking, swimming or wrestling in the mud. Jango jas become a beloved faimly pet, not by just me and my husband, but by our extended families as well. In the summer, we plan to start training him as a search and rescue dog.

Thankd you for giving me my best friend on four legs.

"Hi, my name is Carolynne & my boyfriend Nate and I have 3 pets adopted from WCHS. I just wanted to share some pictures and say how much we LOVE them!  Nate adopted our german shepard Buddy in the late summer or fall of 2007. He is the best dog ever!  We have a 6 month old great dane puppy who we got about 3 months ago and Buddy really has done all the training!  LOL!  I know she is going to be a great dog because he sets the example for her and teaches her how to behave, such as how to ask to go outside, staying in the yard and coming when called! Its fantastic! Nate and I also adopted 2 kittens in October 2009. We looked on the website and picked the 2 that we thought we might like and when we met them, we fell in love! Their names are Webster & Peanut (aka Peanut butter). Webster is white and grey and very unique looking. The minute I saw his picture I knew he was the one for me! He was a very energetic crazy kitten and when I met him I knew he would fit in with our family having 2 dogs and 2 kids! We thought his name suited him so we kept it! Peanut was also playful and him and Webster seemed to compliment each other and were best buds right from the start. Peanut was a little more laid back as a kitten and a little more shy. Peanut is our cuddler and sleeps with us every night and loves to be with us hanging out. He is very shy still with others and hides if we have company. Peanut and Buddy are best of friends, peanut loves all (now 3) of our dogs. Webster, while still crazy, has calmed down a lot. He is very curious and if we have company over he insists on being right there so he doesn’t miss anything! He doesn’t like to cuddle, but loves attention! He hangs out watching me cook, but never tries to bother the food. We love all their different personalities! Thanks for helping us grow our furry family, we love them all so much!"
